How to Take Advantage of Being Snowed In

Does this winter weather have you down? There’s no question that we’ve had more than our share of snow, wind and cold temperatures this year, but you can take advantage of being snowed in and kick back and relax or get some things done around the house.

If you are overdue for a vacation, now is the perfect time to take some time off and rejuvenate so you can return to work full of energy and ambition. Or, if you’ve been meaning to make those repairs around the house or do some projects to prepare your home to list it on the Wellesley real estate market, you couldn’t ask for a better opportunity.

Take a “Staycation”

If all this snow and ice has you wanting to cozy up and stay in, take advantage of the excuse to not be able to travel and have a “staycation.” In other words, make your home the perfect sanctuary and then relax until the weather clears up. Some simple ways to have a stay-at-home vacation include participating in hobbies, getting lost in a book, playing games with the family or having a movie night.

Unplug from Work

While this strategy may not be possible for everyone, or for the entire week, unplugging from work is a great way to take advantage of being snowed in and take some time for yourself.

Don’t check your email, answer work phone calls or even use your computer for an entire day, stepping away from everyday stresses and taking the chance to unwind and relax.

Get Some Family Time In

If it seems like your family is always busy and always running to the next thing, now is your chance to get in some quality family time. While the schools are closed and you’re taking a few days off, spend time together. Play games, do activities everyone can participate in or just sit back and talk.

Take on that DIY Project

When you can’t get out of the house, it’s the perfect time to take on that do-it-yourself project you’ve been meaning to get to. Whether it’s a home improvement project or a crafty project, now is a good time to get to work on it.

Even simple projects, like putting together a wreath, creating a photo wall or finishing that quilt you started give you the chance to get your creative juices flowing and relax. A change of pace is a great way to take advantage of being snowed in.

Cross Some Things Off Your To-Do List

When you’re stuck at home, but feel like being productive, why not cross some things off your to-do list? Small fixes like tightening doorknobs, mopping the floors, fixing that squeaky floorboard and other home repairs and projects often get lost when we’re busy, so now is a good time to get them done.

This is also a great way to prepare to list your Wellesley home for sale. Before you sell your home, you’ll need make sure it is in excellent condition and prepare it for showing, so if you are getting ready to sell, take some time to make these fixes.

Don’t let this cold weather get you down. Take advantage of being snowed in by taking some time to relax or prepare your home to sell. If you are interested in listing and selling your home, contact Christine Norcross at 781-929-4994.
